RULES FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS IN AMATEUR RADIO DIRECTION FINDING

(ARDF WG)

 

Observing
the rapid increase of the number of competitors and societies at Region 1 and World Championships in ARDF.

 

Further observing
an increased need for more age categories and the necessity to shorten the starting period at big international competitions.

 

Considering
- that to comply with this increase of the number of competitors
- and to comply with the need of an acceptable duration of big competitions
- the necessity of fair and precise rules for Championships in ARDF

a change of the current rules for Championships in ARDF is not possible and totally new rules for Championships in ARDF are necessary.

 

Recommending
to accept the attached RULES FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS IN AMATEUR RADIO DIRECTION FINDING
Version 2.6 - Part A & B as valid rules for ARDF Championships in Region 1.

 

Noting
that the important parts of these rules were tested at the 13th IARU Region 1 European Championships 2001 in La Salvetat / France and at the  11th ARDF World Championships 2002 in Tatranske Matliare/Slovakia and that the entire rules were confirmed by the IARU Region 1 ARDF Working Group at the 22nd Plenary Meeting during the  13th IARU Region 1 European Championships 2001 in La Salvetat / France.

Amendment to C3.21 Rev. 1

 

Following changes have been made between V2.5 and V2.6

 

  • A2.2  … any international ARDF event …. – not events
  • A2.8   … or at least 50% of the total …
  • A5.1 new text: “ Competitors shall have full passport-holding citizenship of the country they represent. Other nationals living at least for one year in the country of question may also participate for the society of said country; the legitimacy of the residence shall be proven by an official document. Exceptions from this require the approval of the ARDF WG and the societies involved.
  • A9.7 … approve the results and shall decide upon possible protests.
  • A9.8; 9.9; 9.11; 11.2; 11.3; in each of these paragraphs the word Jury is written with a small first letter. This must be changed.
  • B16.1 to be changed to: The start draw shall be supervised by an ARDF International Class Referee being a member of  …
  • B25.6 to be changed to: in each of the four women categories letter D must be changed to W.
  • B25.14 to be changed to: All … guarded. Normally each … and a member of the International Jury.
  • B: Appendix 2, - 3. ARDF course, para 2: Alternative routes … minimizing “following“.  A good course shall disperse competitors throughout the competition area and not bring them together.  
  • B Appendix 5: Starting preparation. – The information (in brackets) at the end of lines 3 and 4 of the first paragraph must be deleted – they have lost their meaning.
  • B Appendix 5: paragraph 4 starting with: At larger competitions … this paragraph shall not be written in bold but normal letters.
  • B Appendix 6: Rules for Youth Regional ARDF Championships
  • The number 2.1 shall be deleted. Paragraph 1 to be as follows:
  • These rules are based on the Rules for Championships in Amateur Radio Direction Finding (see part A & B ). The points as stated below replace equally numbered points of part A&B of the Rules:
  • Y1.6:            text is ok
  • Y3.1:            A Youth Regional ARDF Championship (no s) is an annual event.
  • Y4.3:            Championship (no:s)
  • Y5.4:            text is ok
  • Y5.5:            Not valid at Youth Regional ARDF Championships
