Dear sport friends,
Let us invite you to the 6trh European /IARU Region 1 ARDF Youth Championships. After six years, this event will take place in Czech Republic again. Many important ARDF events (European ARDF Championships 1993, 1st European ARDF Youth Championships 2000 and World ARDF Championships 2004) were held in Moravia. Now we would like to invite you to the western part of Czech Republic - to the world famous spa Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad).

Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad), the most famous Czech spa town, is still a popular place in which both sick and healthy persons from the whole world arrive, which means that they keep supporting the tradition set up centuries ago. The international character of Carlsbad and the reputation of its curative springs certainly promise that the spa town will remain the best-known and most visited place in the Czech Republic besides Prague. A story of the fantasy world is a popular story according to which Carlsbad springs were discovered by Charles IV, the Czech king and Roman Emperor, at a deer hunting in the middle of the 14th century. The foundation of the spa town at the confluence of the Ohøe and Teplá Rivers during under the reign of Charles IV is sure not to be such an accidental and romantic act as it is said in the old story, but almost a regular development result for a long-known place with a curative tradition. Carlsbad is famous for mineral springs and the best-known spring is the Hot Spring with 73 oC hot mineral water, there are also many others mineral springs there in Carlsbad. Carlsbad is also well known for the hand-cut crystal, china industry and International Film Festival. The dominant architectural spa facilities are the Thermal Spring Colonnade, Russian Orthodox church and the international Imperial Grandhotel Pupp. Other buildings are mainly from 19th century, which was the golden age of Carlsbad. The genius loci of Carlsbad was affected by stays of leading representatives of the European culture, science and politics. The Thermal Spring was visited for instance by Charles IV, a Czech King and Emperor of the Roman-German Empire, Friedrich I, a Prussian king, Peter the Great, a Russian czar, J. S. Bach, a German composer, J. W. Goethe, a German poet, F. Schiller, a German poet, L. v. Beethoven, a German composer, R. Wagner, a German composer, F. Chopin, a Polish composer, died in Carlsbad, N. V. Gogol, a Russian writer, F. Lizst, a Hungarian composer, J. Barrande, a French scientist, O. v. Bismarck, a German chancellor, Muzzafer Edin, a Persian Shah, Edward VII, an English King, A.
