17th IARU Region 1 ARDF Championship, Bulgaria 2009

BFRA has published Bulletin 1 at http://www.ardf2009.eu/.

Silent key - Karel Soucek, OK2VH

I am reporting with deep regret that Karel, OK2VH passed away on November 22nd, 2008 after a long disease.

Karel certainly belonged to people who shaped the history of ARDF from its very beginning. First as the competitor, later as the national team trainer, he represented Czechoslovak colors at many events. He brought up many competitors who reached the highest results in ARDF competitions. We can never appreciate enough his endless effort at promoting ARDF especially among children and youngsters.

He will be sadly missed.

Jiří, OK2BWN

Cavtat 08Minutes from WG meeting in Cavtat

2008-11-20 - The ARDF Working Group held its annual meeting at the IARU Region 1 General Conference in Cavtat, Croatia. With recommendation from the WG, the General Conference approved some changes to part A of the ARDF rules and re-elected Rainer Flößer, DL5NBZ, as WG Chairman. Since only few ARDF specialists were present, it was decided to postpone all changes to part B and finalize the next version (which merely reflects the last years' decisions and corrects some wording issues) before the next formal meeting in Bulgaria 2009 by e-mail voting. This delays the introduction of categories D60 and M70 to 2010. However, a few changes to part A needed to be processed during the General Conference, and most of them were approved and will be valid from January 2009.
